Lomond Alley will no longer connect to the parking lot at the Wendy’s located at the intersection of Warrensville Center Road and Chagrin Boulevard, effective Monday, May 6. Access was always one-way in an eastbound direction, but traffic in both directions was common. Closure of that access will significantly improve safety.
Few people recognize the name Lomond Alley, which connects Lomond Boulevard to the Wendy’s parking lot. The road, which skirts the parking lot behind Van Aken South, where Juma anchors the west end and Lucy’s anchors the east end, has been the path for many Wendy’s patrons. Intersection improvements and an improved site plan for the new Wendy’s eliminate the need for cut-through options. Construction of a new Wendy’s and demolition of the old building signaled the right time to change the street’s eastern end to no outlet.
The Wendy’s site will be readied for new construction in the days following its closing on May 5, with demolition scheduled for May 13. Construction is estimated to take approximately 120 days, barring any unforeseen circumstances. Sidewalk around the Wendy’s property will be closed during at least part of the construction period and closure of one of the two driveways along Warrensville Center Road will require partial closing of the southbound lane of Warrensville for a few days. See the maintenance of traffic diagram.
