Make It a Shaker Weekend June 17 - 19

Four events over three days celebrate Shaker, the arts, and dads

Dateline: May 19, 2016 - You can Make It a Shaker Weekend Friday, June 17 through Sunday, June 19 with four Shaker-based events: Shaker Historical Society’s Twilight in the Garden Party and the Gracious Gardens Tour; the Shaker Heights Arts & Music Festival; and Family Connections DadsDay Run. All of the events are open to the public, some events require tickets or registration.

The weekend begins Friday evening at 6 pm with the Twilight in the Garden Party at a private, historic home in Shaker. The evening includes cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, dinner, live music, and raise the paddle. Purchase tickets online: www.shakerhistoricalsociety.org.

The Shaker Heights Arts & Music Festival—located in front of Shaker Middle School, 20600 Shaker Blvd.— runs Saturday 10 am-10 pm, and Sunday 11 am-5 pm, and includes great food from local restaurants and food trucks, beer and wine, a juried art show, musical entertainment, and activities for children. Admission is free. The Festival is co-sponsored by the City of Shaker Heights, Ohio Designer Craftsmen, and Shaker Arts Council, and supported in part by the residents of Cuyahoga County through a public grant from Cuyahoga Arts & Culture and the following:

On Sunday, June 19, the Family Connections DadsDay Run begins and ends at the Shaker Family Center, 19824 Sussex Rd., and includes a 5-mile race, starting at 8:30 am followed by a 1-mile race, and a free KidSprint. Also on Sunday from noon-5 pm, the Shaker Historical Society hosts its annual Gracious Gardens Tour. Ticket holders may tour eight Shaker gardens varying in design and size. The Historical Society museum will also host an Open House on Sunday which includes lawn games and a Lemonade Stand Competition. Purchase tickets online: www.shakerhistoricalsociety.org.
