District Weekends Events Return in March

Next District Weekends to Host Tower East Happy Hour on March 8 and Thornton Ice Arena Family Gathering on March 10

Shaker Heights District Weekends

Celebrating the historic cool of Shaker’s tallest building and the guaranteed fun that Thornton Park delivers, the next District Weekends events feature a Happy Hour at Tower East on March 8 and a family-friendly Afternoon at Thornton Park’s Ice Arena on March 10.

Shaker residents are invited to mingle with friends, neighbors, and office tenants on Thursday, March 8 at Tower East, Shaker's iconic high-rise office building, designed by German architect Walter Gropius (and listed in the National Register of Historic Places). Food and drink specials offered by Saffron Patch, with entertainment by renowned jazz pianist and composer Marshall Griffith, presented by the Cleveland International Piano Competition. Have a drink (cash bar) and head on out or stay for a delicious dinner with your friends.

Families can gather for an afternoon of ice skating and other fun and games at Thornton's Ice Arena on Saturday, March 10. Not a skater? No problem! Play broomball in street shoes, watch figure-skating demonstrations or participate in STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) activities for children in kindergarten through third grade. Indulge in snacks from the concession stand. Shaker Rocks will also be on hand to provide info about its state-of-the-art rock climbing gym, to open in the Van Aken District this summer.
