Emergency Communications

In an emergency, the City will use all communication channels to inform residents. This includes email (sign up for the Shaker Heights City News list) and City social media accounts (see below). Emergency alerts are also posted at the top of the City's website and sent through the County's CodeRed alerts system (see below).

CodeRED

Sign up for CodeRED, Cuyahoga County’s mass notification system, to receive emergency alerts from the County, including for severe weather. The City also uses this system to send certain community alerts via text, including emergency alerts, trash delays, major road closures and construction updates impacting major roadways. Be sure to check text for the type of notification and Shaker Heights under Additional Notifications to receive community text alerts. The mobile app will also show alerts based on your location.
