Please note that masks are required in all common areas of all City buildings, including Thornton Park Ice Arena, regardless of vaccination status. People actively engaging in athletic activity are not required to wear a mask on ice.The Thornton Park Ice Arena is where many Shaker residents take their first steps on the ice and then progress as recreational skaters, figure skaters, or hockey players.
Typically, the Ice Arena is open year-round for ice skating lessons, public skating, and hockey leagues. The Ice Arena is also a community partner for the Shaker Figure Skating Club, the Shaker Heights High School hockey team, and the Shaker Youth Hockey Association.
