Commercial properties are inspected when the initial Business License is issued and on an as-needed basis. Commercial properties are also subject to regular life safety inspections from the Shaker Heights Fire Department. Additionally, all food operators are required to be licensed by the Cuyahoga County Board of Health and are subject to regular food safety inspections. Food service and restaurant inspection results can be accessed here.
The City requires a commercial property inspection before issuing a Business License. During this inspection, an inspector from the Department of Building and Housing, as well as a representative from the Fire Department's Fire Prevention Bureau will inspect the property. Any violations will need to be corrected before the issuance of the Business License.
