Meet Me’Chele Frierson … A Live Work Story

Overlooking Lee Road in a second story office is Me’Chele Frierson, LISW-S, a 13-year licensed psychotherapist whose practice, M Frierson Therapy is celebrating five years in business this March. Me’Chele moved to her Lee Road office four years ago where she has created a beautiful, welcoming space for her clients. Me’Chele has a deep affection for the area as it is “her former stomping grounds as a teenager,” as she grew up nearby in Cleveland and graduated from John F. Kennedy High School. She remembers Lee Road being particularly vibrant back in the day. After living in Ohio City for eleven years, she and her husband bought a home in Shaker’s Moreland neighborhood. They chose to move to Shaker because of the diverse community with strong historic Black roots and high quality public education. It was also important to Me’Chele that she could live AND work in the same community. She is actively participating in programs like #ShakerShines and is excited about growing her business as a part of the future of Lee Road.

Me'Chele FriersonMe’Chele has always been drawn to service. Initially, in college she pursued an education degree, but after student teaching she realized that her passion was more in line with supporting the social-emotional needs of students, so she switched to social work. Me’Chele is active in the National Association of Social Workers (NASW). Each year the NASW adopts an annual theme to celebrate the work of social workers during the month of March. Me'Chele uses the theme to guide her efforts in creating fun and engaging activities to support other local social workers. This year, she is interviewing four local social workers to highlight the Association's theme “the time is right for social work." The interviews will be recorded and shared on Me’Chele’s Facebook page.

Me’Chele works with people of all ages, including children and is especially passionate about serving individuals in marginalized communities to help address issues unique to these populations. She believes that “one’s mental/emotional health and ability to become self-aware are the key essentials to living a more realistic and healthy life.” Me’Chele can see clients experiencing brief crisis or work with those who simply need someone to talk to confidentially, in addition to working with longer-term clients with a variety of mental health diagnoses. M Frierson Therapy accepts several insurance plans and offers self-pay rates as well. Me’Chele’s office is located at 3689 Lee Road, Suite 2A.

We are thrilled to have Me’Chele in the Shaker business community and look forward to seeing her business thrive on Lee Road.
