Fair Housing Office
The City's Fair Housing Office works to ensure fair and equal opportunity in housing in Shaker Heights and takes action when it discovers discriminatory practices, including with rental properties. Visit our Fair Housing Office's page to learn more.
Department of Building & Housing
The City's Department of Building & Housing works to ensure rental properties in Shaker Heights meet minimum residential occupancy standards. This is achieved through licensing and inspections programs that are mandatory for all rental properties in the City.

Legal Aid Society of Cleveland
Offers extensive information on tenant's rights and guidance for tenants who believe their rights have been violated, including a tenant's rights hotline. If you are being evicted, contact Legal Aid’s Free Eviction Help – a program specifically designed for qualifying individuals who reside in Cuyahoga County.
CHN Housing Partners
Provides help to renters facing eviction due to financial hardship and can also connect you with utility assistance programs available to renters.
