The City has received $2 million in grant funding, including $1.8 million from the Ohio Department of Transportation.

Funding for Lee Road

The City has received a $1.8 million Highway Safety Improvement Program Grant from the Ohio Department of Transportation for Lee Road. This new state program was created to help fund safety improvements for state and local roadways, with funding for implementation of safety countermeasures to prevent pedestrian crashes and fatalities. In total, ODOT awarded $51 million for projects in 32 counties.

The City will use the $1.8 million toward implementing pedestrian safety upgrades as part of a corridor-long road diet, including ADA-compliant pedestrian signalization and crossing upgrades at all Lee Road signalized intersections. South of Van Aken Boulevard, additional lighting and a wider sidewalk will be funded as part of a planned road diet. The City is in the process of working with residents, Lee Road businesses and other stakeholders on the Lee Road Action Plan with the goal of comprehensively transforming the area south of Van Aken Boulevard into a thriving corridor and commercial district that is attractive, walkable, bikeable, and transit-friendly. Your next chance to weigh in on proposed changes will come on June 15th, 6:30 pm at The Dealership.  To learn more or sign up for email updates, visit the project page.

Funding for Moreland & Shaker Town Center

The City has also received a $150,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)  from Cuyahoga County to improve the rear parking lot of the south side of Chagrin Boulevard at Shaker Town Center. The City also received a $50,000 Community Development Supplemental Grant (CDSG) to go toward the Southern Moreland Traffic Calming project.
