Next training starts September 7
The Shaker Heights Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is made up of volunteers who are specially trained to assist the Shaker Heights Fire Department during emergencies. Our Shaker CERT is one of more that 1,000 CERT teams in the United States. The program is sponsored by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Members of Shaker CERT participate in a special training program that includes everything from disaster preparedness, fire safety, disaster medical operations, terrorism, disaster psychology, and light search and rescue. In Shaker, volunteers also maintain current CPR and first aid certifications.
Shaker CERT is planning to conduct a training academy from September 7 to November 9. Meetings are on Thursdays, 6:30-9 pm at Fire Station 1 (17000 Chagrin Blvd.). If you are interested in participating in the training academy and learning more about the program, please contact Fire Inspector Louis Bottone at 216-491-3205 or by email.
