Help Local Businesses Survive by Shopping Small This Holiday SeasonThis year, it goes without saying that things are not as they normally are; habits have changed to stay healthy and make every dollar count. When shopping (retail, services, restaurants) this holiday season, think local first and “Shop Small.” For every $100 that you spend in locally-owned businesses, $48 recirculates in the community versus only $14 if you spend that $100 at a national chain business. To help you Shop Small, follow these Facebook pages: Shop Shaker, Shaker Heights Development Corporation (SHDC) and Heights-Hillcrest Regional Chamber of Commerce who will be promoting opportunities to Shop Small all season long. Many locally-owned businesses now offer on-line, private appointments, delivery, and curb-side pick-up options to help you shop safely during the pandemic. If you do venture out, take note of the decorated storefront windows, a new program from the business associations and the SHDC, called #ShakerShines. The sparkle is sure to lift your spirits!
