Shaker Renovator Program Application

  1. Introduction & Eligibility Requirements

    Thank you for your interest in joining the Shaker Renovator Program. Please review following eligibility requirements before submitting this application. Questions? Call the Department of Building & Housing at 216-491-1460.

    To be eligible for the program, you must:

    1. Have a Contractor's License with the City
    2. Have completed at least two qualified renovation projects in the City in the past 18 months. Qualified renovation projects include upgrades beyond correction of code violations, and where interior work met certified Shaker quality standards
    3. Be in good standing with Department of Building & Housing, including: 
      • Record of providing realistic Point of Sale escrow requirements
      • Complied with Certificate of Occupancy requirements;
      • Previously renovated properties met City quality standards
      • No Housing Court convictions in past three years
      • Scheduled permit inspections as required
      • Work scope on permits met work scope actually carried out
      • Drawings met City requirements
      • Contractor License not revoked within past five years
      • No convictions for Building code violations in prior two years
    4. Owe no property or income tax to the City of Shaker Heights
    5. Own no properties in Shaker Heights that are in foreclosure
    6. Have favorable references

    You must provide three references. At least one reference must be from a non-affiliated entity, and one from a supplier with whom you have done business. Other governmental references are welcome.

    Provide the following information on properties in Shaker Heights you have owned and renovated within the past 18 months (you must have completed at least two renovations to quality for the program). Upload photos of the interior work for each property to allow us to determine if your renovation work qualifies for this program. Describe non-permit work in sufficient detail for us to understand the scope of the project and it it meets program criteria.
