Support Services Bureau

The Support Services Bureau is supervised by Commander John Cole. The Bureau includes the Investigation & Engagement Units, which provide case investigative services; Police Information Unit, which provides public information; Jail Management Unit; Property Management Unit; and Training & Development Unit. The Internal Affairs Unit and Professional Standards Unit are also part of the Bureau.

Support Services is responsible for the storage and dissemination of all the reports, citations, and documents generated by the police department. Police Records Request
Police Department public records may be requested by phone, in person or in writing. To make a request by phone, please call the Records Room at 216-491-1220, weekdays from 8 am-4:30 pm. In-person requests will be accepted at the Records Room, located in the Shaker Heights Police Department at 3355 Lee Road, weekdays from 8 am-4:30 pm. Written requests can be:

  • Faxed to 216-491-1224
  • Mailed to Shaker Heights Police Department, ATTN: Records Room, 3355 Lee Road, Shaker Heights, Ohio 44120
  • Submitted electronically

Some requests may take days to complete. The Records Room will notify requestors when the records are ready – be sure to include contact information. Please note that written requests often ensure accuracy.

There is no charge to review records in person or to receive records by email (if possible). View the Records Request form for information on photocopying charges. Payment is not required when submitting a request, but must be received prior to receiving the records.

Property Management Unit
The Property Management Unit manages the efficient storage and retention of all evidence and personal property collected or confiscated as part of an investigation. The This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. coordinates the release of property.

Jail Management Unit
The department operates a twelve-day holding facility. Jail staff can accommodate individual requests to visit a person being temporarily housed in the jail. Visits are limited to 15 minutes per date, and a maximum of 30 minutes per week.

Individuals requesting visitation are subject to search, and are required to provide valid identification and contact information prior to entry.
