Rotary Club of Shaker Heights to Honor Firefighter and Police Officer of the Year

Annual awards presentation to be held October 17

Dateline: October 8, 2018 - The Rotary Club of Shaker Heights will honor its 2017 Firefighter and Police Officer of the Year on Wednesday, October 17. Rotary President John Sobotincic will lead the awards program. Members Sally Baden and Adam Davis will present the awards to Detective Bruce Adkins (Police) and Lieutenant Christopher Wirsching (Fire). Honorees will receive a plaque for their service, as well as a monetary gift in the presence of guests and City officials, including Mayor David E. Weiss and members of City Council.

The awards have been presented for more than 20 years. The first award was presented to James Yarcusko (police) and Dean Charvat (fire) in 1992.

 Who: The Rotary Club of Shaker Heights joined by the City of Shaker Heights

  Police Chief Jeffrey DeMuth and Fire Chief Patrick Sweeney will represent both
  service organizations.

What: Annual presentation of awards to the City of Shaker Heights 2017 Firefighter
         & Police Officer of the Year.

           Breakfast reception: 8am
           Ceremony: 8:30am

Why: To honor the exemplary service provided to our community by this year's honorees,
         and to recognize the ongoing commitment of all of the City's firefighters and police
         officers who protect and serve the residents of the City of Shaker Heights.
