Here Comes the Moreland Roll 'N Stroll
August 4 walking and biking tour and scavenger hunt
Dateline: July 16, 2018 – The City will host the first Moreland Roll ‘N Stroll on Saturday, August 4. Check-in begins at 9:30 am at The Dealership, 3558 Lee Road, with the self-guided tour and scavenger hunt through the Moreland neighborhood from 10 am – noon. The fun continues with games and crafts until 2 pm. The event begins and ends at The Dealership. It’s a free, family-friendly event.
This unique, interactive tour and scavenger hunt will expand participant’s knowledge of the historic, vibrant and evolving Moreland neighborhood. Using a map provided at registration, participants are invited to walk or bike through the neighborhood, stopping to find key points of interest, learn historical facts, and have a “passport” stamped. At each point of interest, participants will meet a neighborhood ambassador. Once the tour and scavenger hunt are completed, participants are invited to head back to The Dealership, present their stamped passport, and be entered into drawings for prizes. As the scavenger hunt winds down, games, crafts and fun wind up inside The Dealership.
This event is an outgrowth of a history project in the Moreland neighborhood. In partnership with Cleveland State University, an in-depth, historical study of the neighborhood was undertaken. From that, written and oral histories have been produced that bring to life the many dimensions of this unique neighborhood.
